What is the difference between an Rx consultation and a GFE?

Updated July 22, 2026 · Common Questions

Every Quidget consultation is one of two main types: an Rx consultation or a Good Faith Exam (GFE). They look similar at checkout, but what happens after the visit — and what your store needs configured — is very different.

Rx consultations

A prescription consultation: a licensed provider reviews the patient's information and may prescribe medication if appropriate. On approval, the prescription is filled by the product's assigned partner pharmacy and shipped to the patient — see How pharmacy fulfillment works.

Examples: weight-loss programs (Semaglutide, Tirzepatide), ED medication, hair-loss treatment, hormone therapy, peptides — anything where the patient buys a consultation that can end in medication.

Good Faith Exams (GFEs)

A screening evaluation for a treatment your clinic performs: the provider confirms the patient is an appropriate candidate. No prescription is written and no pharmacy is involved — the patient gets cleared, then comes to you for the service.

Examples: injectables and neuromodulators (Botox, fillers), IV therapy, laser treatments, body contouring, chemical peels.

Also in the mix: Urgent Care

Urgent Care consultations are a third type for immediate, non-emergency needs — think sinus infections, pink eye, and acute prescriptions. They're prescription consultations at heart, and they get their own filter in the Consultations grid.

Telling them apart in the plugin

The Qualiphy → Consultations grid filters by Rx / GFE / Urgent, and every imported product shows its type on the Qualiphy tab under Product data (look for the Rx Type badge). The full glossary lives on your plugin dashboard under Definitions.
